Geneva is the world's smallest metropolis that surprises visitors with its vibrant and luxury culture, historical depth, and spectacular settings. Often recognized as a center for business, Geneva also offers breath-taking tourist attractions.
Keep reading to hear my top things to do in Geneva, including a suggested long weekend itinerary... the itinerary includes: best places to stay in Geneva, best places to see in Geneva, best activities in Geneva, and best restaurants in Geneva.
Day 1: Arrival and Lake Geneva Dinner Cruise
Check-in at Hôtel Longemalle
Begin your stay at the Hôtel Longemalle, located at the heart of Geneva.
Dinner Boat Cruise on Lake Geneva
Kick off your Geneva adventure with an elegant dinner cruise on Lake Geneva. Board a majestic Belle Epoque boat from Jardin Anglais and enjoy dinner while taking in the stunning views of the Swiss shores of the lake. This three-and-a-half-hour experience is a perfect introduction to Geneva's scenic beauty - and it was definitely a highlight of my trip!
Day 2: Exploring the Old Town and Chocolate Making
Guided Tour of the Old Town
Start your day with a guided tour of Geneva's Old Town. Stroll through the backstreets and discover the cities many historical treasures, including St Pierres Cathedral, The Flower Clock, Jet d'Eau, The Reformation Wall, and much more.
Chocolate Workshop at La Bonbonnière
At noon, immerse yourself in the world of Swiss chocolate at La Bonbonnière. Participate in a hands-on workshop where you'll learn about the history and production of chocolate and, of course, get to create your own masterpiece while also indulging in tasting some of the finest pralines. For chocolate addicts like me this is a top recommendation 😍
Lunch at Les Armures
Enjoy a delightful lunch at Les Armures, one of Geneva’s oldest restaurants. Savour traditional Swiss dishes such as ‘Zurich-style’ sliced veal and for cheese lovers - a two-cheese fondue in a warm, historic setting.
Museum of Art and History
In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Art and History, one of Switzerland's largest museums. Explore its extensive collections of applied arts, fine arts, and archaeology, and take advantage of the City Pass for a seamless entry.
Tuktuk Tour and Dinner in Carouge
What's a better way to end your day than with a Tuktuk tour of Geneva's must-see attractions, followed by a leisurely evening in Carouge. Known for its bohemian vibe and being a inside of Geneva, Carouge offers charming streets, artisan shops, and a memorable dining experience at Café des Négociants (Michelin Guide Restaurant!).
Day 3: Brunch and Farewell
Brunch at Kiosque des Bastions
Start your final day with a delightful brunch at Kiosque des Bastions, a modern brasserie set in the heart of Geneva. Enjoy a varied menu in a beautiful art-deco setting, perfect for a relaxing morning.
Explore Old Town
After brunch, take some free time to explore Geneva at your own pace before heading back. Of course I took some time to film some drone footage of the water fountain and the city (I'll be posting these soon on my Instagram follow me there not to miss it). 🎥
