Ela Kır is a Turkish-British filmmaker whose journey spans continents, from her roots in Turkiye to a childhood in South Africa, and now a career in the UK. Her passion for visual storytelling began early, enabling her to build an exceptional portfolio and begin university at just 16. She graduated from the University of Essex with a BA Hons in Film Studies, earning a prestigious departmental award for the "Best Independent Project". In 2018, her documentary A Little Bit Like Calm gained international recognition, winning "Best International Documentary" at Mojo Italia Film Festival. Her latest film, Seriously, 2020..., was featured at numerous festivals, including Manchester Metropolitan University's Place 2020 exhibition, and it won the "Best Documentary" award at Prodigy Film Festival. Ela now freelances across various projects, ranging from advertising and corporate content to social and documentary filmmaking. In 2025, she will be pursuing a Directing Documentary MA at the world-renowned National Film and Television School.
